The most telling evidence for an animal's adaptation to its environment are the features of its skull. Its eye placement and size of the eye orbit, number and kinds of teeth (dentition), size of ear orbits, all contribute the niche a mammal has in its environment. What a animal eats and whether it is eaten by other animals depends largely on its skull.

These assessments are in a "Think Tac Toe" format. Student is required to complete the center square and may choose any other two assignments. This assessment is introduced at or near the beginning of the unit and is worked on as the material is covered. Assessment is then completed by the end of the unit. One assessment is for Simple Machines and the second is Physical and Chemical change. Feedback is welcome!
