As a Siemens STEM Fellow, Iwould like to validate the serious nature of the Siemens application process. Although Discovery works closely with Siemens, the choosing of Fellows is conducted by the College Board. The Fellows come from all kinds and sizes of schools and there is no part of the application that asks about DEN...my district doesn't have DEN. when answering application questions,I believe you must convey your cooperative motivations to professionally grow with others. We are charged with the task of further developing STEM initiatives building more opportunities for kids to grow...the resume is important but your motivation and desire to grow with others is absolute. If you aren't chosen, apply again, reflecting on your written and video responses. Choosing only 50 from our entire nation is a tall task. Chosen Fellows should take this opportunity seriously.

Looking at the Illinois recipient. It appears that I do not teach in an affluent enough district.

From Kelly's comment, looks like I need to teach on the east coast, preferably on the east coast (MA), and visit NASA and apply for Siemen's Change the World event.

To All Selected as Siemens Institute Fellows: I would like for you to visit my profile on www.linkedin.com (Jason Dietrich) and provide some feedback regarding my qualifications to become a Siemens Institute Fellow. I'm not sure if it is where I teach or lack of knowing the right person, but our school uses Discovery Education, I teach College Board AP Math & Physics courses and I have participated in numerous STEM activities (Engineering Open Houses, Real World Design Competitions, WYSE, STEM Days, Symposiums, etc.). I have two engineering degrees, a masters in education and am working on additional course work in applied mathematics. I would just like some feedback.

I'm very interested in learning more about STEM. Our school is adopting a pilot program this upcoming year for the junior high. I teach 4th and 5th grade science so I would like to be aware of what will be expected in the following years.

I teach English at STEM HS in Rochester, NY. How could I incorporate this into my 10th grade English class next year? This is our second year in existence as a STEM school. Last year I had the 9th graders. Please be more definitive by integration and inspiration in the above section "subjects". Thanks!

This webinar would be extremely helpful to my lesson planning for the up coming year. Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend; can it be archived for later listening?
